A huge thanks to the 33 teams who played in the Spring Open at Richmond on Saturday. Despite the very windy conditions on the day, we managed to get the full 18 holes in.

A big thanks to all of the staff at Richmond, including the green keepers, shop, bar staff and Penley’s for serving up great food. A special mention of thanks to all who volunteered on the day, your support as always, is much appreciated.

Winter Open 2024 (February 25)

A huge thanks to the 96 golfers who played in the Winter Open at Richmond on Saturday, February 25.

Winter Open 2024 (January 27)

Well done and a big thanks to all of the golfers and volunteers who participated in our first Winter Open of 2024. Also to our fantastic bar and shop staff and catering team from Penleys.

We look forward to seeing you all again on Saturday 24 Feb for our next Open for only £30 per pair. Entries open now on BRS.

All vouchers will be sent to the respective club and can be spent at your own shop or brought back to RGC. Richmond Members will have winnings added to their BRS accounts.

Gents Open – Saturday, 3rd July, 2021

It was great to see 122 players enjoying the course in much better weather than expected at the Gents Open on Saturday, July 3.

Congratulations to Tony Andrews & Mark Thompson from Barnard Castle & Darlington on winning overall with 47 points ahead of two Richmond pairs.

Visitors’ winning vouchers will be posted (and members vouchers available in the RGC office) on Tuesday.

Seniors Open – Tuesday, 8th June 2021

Bob Bennett & Colin Price were the overall winners on countback ahead of Alistair Paterson and Jim Manley after a tie with 49 points each.

Paul Mullen and Tim Burrells from Masham were the winning Visitors with 47 points while John Simpson and Ian Allan had the lowest gross score of 67.

There was also a Hole in One for Stephen Ralph (Woodhall Hills) on the 12th.

It was great to see 21 teams playing in the Stevie Dee Texas Scramble in perfect conditions on Monday, May 31.

Fifty-six players enjoyed our excellent course in the Senior Mixed Open on Wednesday, April 21.

The winners were Alan and Kate Key from Oakdale with a score of 45, beating Richmond’s Eileen Catt and Albert Nowicki and Carlisle’s Dennis and Doreen Turnbull on countback.

Steve Mead and Colin Heaney won the first Winter Open of 2020 on countback with a score of 47 points, edging out Nick Bisicker and Jem Robinson in both the Richmond members category and overall winners prize.

Richmond members Gary Catt and Ian Crisop took victory in Winter Open 1 on Saturday, November 2, on countback after a four-way tie.

The pair scored 46 points but took the victory from Barry Phillipo and Alan Duckett and Stuart Blease and Paul Russell.

Scott Pocklington and Chris Healey from Ineos Golf Club were crowned the winners of the Autumn Open on Saturday, October 5th, with a magnificent score of 48 points.

Richmond GC members Stuart Dozey, Ash Green and Pete Marsh were victorious in the 2019 Pro Am on Wednesday, August 14 with Robert Booth taking the professional prize.

Both played alongside Dozey, Green and Marsh in the winning team as they won by three shots with an impressive score of 20 under par.

Booth, Head Professional at Outlane GC, shot a three-under par 68 to win the professionals competition by a single shot from Gareth Traynor and Jason Proctor.

The Pro Am, organised by Richmond’s Head Professional Dan Hood and sponsored by Callaway, was the first to be held by the Yorkshire PGA with the event set to be on the calendar again in 2020.

The fifth Andew Jackson Memorial Day was held on Friday, 19th July with another big turnout for the Texas Scramble in his memory.

Some excellent scoring saw a team including Ged Morrissey, Pete Marsh, J Atkinson and Steve Pearce win the prize with a score of 54.3.

The winning quartet kindly donated their prize money to the Andrew Jackson Trust, which contributes towards junior golf at both Richmond Golf Club and in the wider region.

Consett member David Johnson scored an impressive 45 points to win the Spring Open on Saturday, March 30.

His total earned him a five-point victory over Craig Symington (Billingham) in the visitors category and also take the Best Overall prize.

The members’ category was won by John Staple with 38 points, one clear of Ivan Rookes. Mike Henson shot the best gross with a one-over par round of 72.

Claire Bateman’s impressive 42 points meant she won the women’s category by six points from Sarah Calvert.
