Richmond Golf Club’s annual Queen Bee Trophy competition brought together the club’s female golfers on Sunday to celebrate both sporting excellence and the legacy of one of the club’s most respected members.

The event is played in honour of Anne Thorpe-Lawson, a former Lady Captain and Club Champion whose passion for the game left a lasting impact on women’s golf at the club.

This year’s overall Queen Bee Trophy winner was Amanda Peirson, who also secured victory in Division Two with an impressive performance on the course.

In Division One, Mary Ann Hide took top spot, with Karen Jobling finishing as runner-up. Clair Jones was runner-up in Division Two.

Several special prizes were also awarded during the competition. Karen Jobling enjoyed a particularly successful day, claiming both the Nearest the Pin in Two competition on the third hole and the Longest Drive prize on the 17th.

Andrea Offord won the Nearest the Pin contest on the ninth hole, while Ellie Thorpe secured the prize on the 12th hole.

The presentation was made by Mark Thorpe, Anne Thorpe-Lawson’s son, who reflected on his mother’s love of the sport and her commitment to encouraging women golfers.

He said: “She was passionate about golf and particularly loved to see women showing off their talents on the course.”
