Queen Bee Salver Competition in Memory of Ann Thorpe-Lawson

On Sunday 8th June, Richmond Golf Club held the first of an annual competition in memory of Ann Thorpe-Lawson.

Ann was devoted to golf and was a past Lady Captain and Ladies’ Club Champion at both Richmond and Catterick Golf Clubs. She was also a Past President of the Teesside Lady Golfers’ Alliance.

Ann’s family felt it was important to recognise her love of golf at both Richmond and Catterick Golf Clubs where she spent many happy hours on and off the course.

On one of her Captain’s days she asked all the participants to wear black and yellow and she earned the nickname ‘Queen Bee’ hence the name of the Salver which has been given in her honour.

Ann was always pleased to see as many ladies as possible take up the game, enjoying it as much as her and encouraged everyone.

All her family have been involved in golf from her Husband, Son, Daughter in law and her Granddaughters and felt this was a fitting way to remember her.

The winner of the first Queen Bee Salver Competition at Richmond was Claire Bateman, Ladies’ Vice Captain.
