Karen Jobling Finishes Runner-Up In YSLGA Championship
Congratulations to Richmond’s Karen Jobling on finishing runner-up in the YSLGA Championship.
This year’s YSLGA (Formerly YVLGA) Championship was held at Wakefield Golf Club. On Tuesday 29th all 96 entrants played medal and the top 16 gross score players then went on to matchplay.
Karen Jobling qualified and won both her last 16 and quarter finals matches on Wednesday. On Thursday morning she played, and won, her semi final against Heather Staniforth from Hallamshire Golf Club which set up a Final against Emma Brown from Ganton.
Emma’s first outing in the Championship was in 2022, having just turned 50 and decided to return to competitive golf after a break. In this first outing, at Richmond, she was again playing against Karen in the Final which she won. In 2025 the result at Wakefield was the same.
Our congratulations go to Karen on yet again being so close yet so far. Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club continues to be proud of your achievements each year to have you as a member. We all wish you the very best for the rest of the 2025 season.
Being presented the runners up prize by Julie Wealdon, YSLGA Captain.
