06 August 2018.

Well, that's the end of a very trying season for the team. Richmond GC were relegated to Div 3 along with Ineos GC. A strong Darlington team won the league, so congratulations to them. With our lack of Cat 1 golfers playing, we definitely struggled against mostly scratch or very low handicap golfers in other teams in the scratch section. The handicap section normally takes care of itself and this mostly proved the case. However, when the players with handicaps of 6 plus are playing in the scratch section, it's not surprising the team struggled.

There is some good news as a Richmond team member won the "Elizabeth Embroidery" trophy by winning the most points from an individual player. A coveted trophy amongst the Union players.A big well done to Ryan Howe for his unbeaten record which not only earns him the aforementioned trophy, but also qualifies for the Matchplay knockout. Well done Ryan, an outstanding achievement.

Thank you to all the players also, who gave up their time and showed great commitment to the cause. The Captain, Nigel Stanwix and Vice Captain Martin Dolan offered support to the team throughout the season and Martin was of great help to me both home and away by taking over running the starts and collecting the money. Cheers Martin. Once again, my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed this season.

John Simpson.
